Explore the picturesque English county of Oxfordshire known for its rolling hills, stately homes and distinct English market towns on this day tour from London.
Travel in a deluxe motor coach, accompanied by a guide to visit Blenheim Palace, The Cotswolds and the filming locations of the famous TV series, Downton Abbey. On this tour you will be given a choice of activities in each destination, allowing you the flexibility to see what you would like to see.
• Blenheim Palace: Blenheim Palace is a masterpiece of English Baroque architecture and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. The stunning State Rooms have beautiful works of art and magnificent tapestries. The Gardens are set in over 754 hectares of land, and its famous Marlborough Maze is fun for all ages.
• The Cotswolds: With a variety of different villages there is something to see around every corner of The Cotswolds. The magnificent high street in Burford slopes gently away to the bridge that crosses the River Windrush, while the village of Bibury was described by William Morris as the 'prettiest village' in The Cotswolds.
• Downton Abbey Village: Visit the street where many scenes from the popular series were filmed. You can see the Church where a number of events were hosted, from weddings and funerals to the Downton Fair. Next to the church is Churchgate House which was used as the Crawley family home, and the old Grammar School which now houses the Bampton Library and Community Archive and served as the Downton Cottage Hospital. The street is also the location for two local pubs, The Grantham Arms and The Dog & Duck.
